Our Curriculum

At Netherton Infant and Nursery School we have designed our curriculum with pupils’ learning at the centre.

We follow the National Curriculum 2014 and recognise that a curriculum has to be broad, balanced and offer pupils opportunities to grow as individuals as well as learners. It provides and acknowledges success for all children, in all aspects of their development and it recognises, encourages and celebrates all types of achievement.

We provide memorable learning experiences which enhance children’s understanding of the world around them.  Our cross curricular approach enables our children to make meaningful and relevant links with their learning ensuring knowledge, understanding and skills are embedded and demonstrated through further learning opportunities.

A curriculum that is ambitious for all pupils including those with SEND with high expectations of attainment, effort and attitudes to learning and to each other is reflected in our school’s key values of friendship, respect and achievement.

As a school team we have planned a curriculum which is coherently organised and sequenced, taking account of prior learning and next steps, the focus of which are our drivers of  nurture, enhanced vocabulary and creativity.

We want our children to leave Netherton Infant and Nursery School with a sense of belonging: happy, rounded, resilient and ready. Working together with our families ensuring they feel safe, supported and cared for helps us value our place in the community.
