Bright beginnings start here.

WELCOME TO NETHERTON NURSERY.

Nursery is a precious time in a child’s life as they begin to explore and make sense of the world around them. Our mission at Netherton Nursery is to provide an environment that is inclusive, calm, happy and nurturing to young children, where learning is exciting and fun. Our goal is to develop curious, confident and resilient children who feel valued as unique individuals.

What are we learning?

Our curriculum is designed to offer a broad and rich early years foundation experience based around half termly topics and following the seven areas of learning.

Our teaching of these areas of learning is practical, playful and supportive of individual needs. There is a combination of adult-led teaching sessions, small group work as well as opportunities for children to follow their own interests in our stimulating continuous provision.

Our aim is to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding children will need to be successful lifelong learners. We want our children to embrace and celebrate difference, be the best they can be, try new things and know it is okay to make mistakes, and be proud of their achievements.

Through working in partnership with parents and carers, we strive to give our children the best start on their learning journey.

Joining Nursery

You can put your child’s name down for our nursery as soon as they are born! Just give us a ring and we’ll talk you through the paperwork and the process. We have a flexible approach to our sessions including a stay for lunch option.

As we know every family’s needs are different, we can try to accommodate your schedule in a way that works best for you and your child. Why not come and have a look around?

Meet our staff

Mrs Boothroyd

In the mornings in Nursery, the sessions are led by experienced teacher Mrs Boothroyd…

I began my teaching career many moons ago in Bradford after completing a Post Graduate Certificate in education at Leeds University. I was then lucky enough to spend two years in Tanzania in East Africa, where I built and taught in a village school. When I returned to England I worked in Dewsbury as a specialist language teacher for children for whom English is their second language.

I joined the team at Netherton Infant and Nursery School in 2007 and have taught both in Key Stage 1 and Early Years. I am now in my fifth year teaching in Nursery, a job I love. It is a real privilege to start children off on their exciting journey through our wonderful school and to be part of their learning and development.

In my spare time I enjoy Yoga and Pilates, going to the theatre, walking my dogs and spending time with family and friends. I love to travel and have recently started to learn Italian, so I know how it feels to be back in the classroom on the other side of the desk!
